A Very Vintage Holiday with Mary Kay

If there is one thing I’ve come to find over my nearly five-year stint as a beauty blogger, it’s that one must never ever discount any makeup brand, no matter how unfamiliar it may be. Such was the case with Mary Kay, a brand I had only heard about prior, but never played with. This holiday season, I was offered up the opportunity to play with the  newest collection, in an effort to recreate their iconic holiday looks. Naturally, I let the makeup artist in me out in full force, as I took the opportunity to play to my heart’s content. Read on for more details on the look I chose!

My Look of Choice – Flapper Chic

flapper1000x680

The Flapper Chic look is flirty and fun, calling to mind images of the chic women of the 1920’s – with short hair all dressed in fringe. The key elements at play here are dramatic, smoky eyes, and a neutral lip and cheek to balance out the eyes nicely.

Why It Suits My Style

It’s no secret that I have always been a smoky eye and nude lip kind-of-girl, which is probably why I gravitated towards this look immediately. In my opinion, a girl’s eyes should speak volumes, and that they do when they are all done up in silver and black

How I recreated the look

Pls excuse my swollen face and hoarse voice. I’m super sick, Ugh! Anywho,

As per recommendation, and based on all of the goodies I had to play with, I used:

Mary Kay at Play™ Eye Trio in Tuxedo

Mary Kay® Eyeliner in Black

Mary Kay® Lash Primer

Lash Love® Mascara in I ♥ Black

Mary Kay® Mineral Cheek Color in Shy Blush

Mary Kay® Mineral Bronzing Powder in Desert Sun

True Dimensions™ Lipstick in Natural Beaute

NouriShine Plus® Lip Gloss in Café Au Lait

The products were quite easy to use, and achieved the desired effect nicely. All in all, I’m rather pleased with the outcome!

This holiday season, Mary Kay definitely offers up some delightful offerings to encourage your creative side.
