Have Healthy Skin? Five Ways to Tell!

More than just your largest bodily organ, the skin you’re in is a projection of our own internal health that we ultimately share with the world. While skin indeed comes in many colors, shapes, and sizes, there is no denying that there are certain universal indicators that tell us our dermis is in tip-top shape. In this post, I present to you my top 5 indicators of healthy skin.

1. Your skin is more or less balanced. There are no oily or dry patches.

While we all may suffer through seasonal bouts of either dry skin in the winter and oily skin in the summer, healthy skin will more or less strike that healthy medium between the two. Mainly, it will neither be too oily, nor too dry.

2. Your skin is relatively texture free.

Grooves, bumps, and wrinkles all occur as a result of imbalances in the skin. Healthy skin will be smooth, and devoid of texture.

3. Your skintone is even throughout

Discoloration, spots, grayness, bruising, and redness are all signs that something may be wrong. Healthy skin will be relatively even-colored throughout, barring birthmarks or freckles.

4. You don’t experience any unusual (and uncomfortable) sensations such as burning, itching, or tightness.

And, last but not least

5. Your skin glows

Anyone can throw on a luminizer or a highlighter, but true healthy skin needs no additives in order to look radiant, glowing, and yes- healthy. Skin that is amply moisturized will glow all on its own.

The importance of healthy skin can not be downplayed here, ladies and gents. No matter its color, shape, size, or behaviors one thing is certain- we must do everything in our power to keep it happy and healthy.  More on that later.
