As winter’s chill gives way to spring’s soft breezes, and snow-capped evergreens to delicately brilliant blooms, so too does winter’s severe color palette give way to the soft shades of spring. Zoom in on that delicate seasonal in-between point, the one in which both seasons vie for supremacy. That twilight period between winter and spring is a study in contrast, to be sure.
This post is about a cosmetic study in contrasts, not unlike the seasonal one we just discussed. The Spring 2012 NARS collection cosmetic collection is the perfect dichotomy. Featuring delicate sparkle, strong mattes, and a mixture of both bold and soft shades, NARS offers up contrast in a makeup collection. Rather than wax poetic, allow me to show rather than tell.
Paramarimbo Eye Shadow Duo features two beautiful, metallic shades of shadow. On one side brass, on the other, bronze. Both shades lean strongly in the green direction, and remind me of a warm day.
Mexican Rose Velvet Gloss Lipstick is a gorgeous shade of bright pink, a lip pencil not unlike my beloved matte velvet pencils that instead leaves my lips plump, pouty, and deliciously glossy.

Also new and noteworthy, Makeup Removing Water is a gentle makeup remover packed to the brim with amazing for the skin ingredients. Refreshing cucumber, soothing chamomile, and skin repairing hyaluronic acid all combine in this makeup remover to leave skin not only delightfully makeup free, but also bright and radiant. It goes without saying that I have quickly incorporated this remover into my nightly skincare regimen, and my skin has thanked me immensely.
NARS spring 2012 is currently available on the NARS Cosmetics website, and at a store/counter near you.
