Readers, this post is a tale of caution. While summer is here, and the sun is still out in full force, proper protection of the SPF variety is more essential than ever. Take it from a girl who goes from baby powder white to beet red in zero to sixty under the sun, you do not want to spend even a moment with the unsavory effects of too much sunshine.
Exhibit A, an intentional frying while on vacation in Mexico. No bueno, boys and girls
Exhibit B is even worse. This was intentional, an effort to establish some semblance of a “tan”
Suffice it to say, I am extra specially careful about protection on the daily. Keeping both my face and my body as pale and wrinkle-free as I like it are these products from Revision Skincare, Sunbow, and suncare favorite, Clarins.
Clarins Sunscreen for Face Wrinkle Control Cream SPF 50+ is exactly what the name implies, a broad spectrum SPF for the face that not only protects from the harmful UVA and UVB rays of the sun, but also helps prevent against and even reverse fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots. This potent mix contains an ingredient cocktail known as Phyto-Sunactyl 2, which is a combination of extracts of senna, pea, plane tree, olive tree and baobab, which all protect our visages from solar stress. Not bad for a facial sunscreen that feels great on, too.
Taking the sun protection for my face one step further is this addition to my repertoire from Revision Skincare, the Intellishade Matte SPF 45+ Tinted Moisturizer. If I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again, I LIVE in my tinted SPF-laden moisturizers year round. While some blends can be either too greasy or too liquidy, Revision’s version is, to quote Goldilocks, just right. The matte finish ensures that I don’t glisten, in the grease-ball way, while the anti-aging peptides ensure that my visage stays smooth and wrinkle free.
Bringing a huge totability factor to the sunscreen party is the Sunbow Sun Stick, a miniature, twist-up stick of SPF 45 protection. While yes, the SpongeBob factor does make this seem more kid-oriented, who’s to say that it won’t protect the big kids like us, too? Potent, portable, water resistant, and offering up a heap of broad range sun protection, this teeny sun stick is keeping my visage burn-free.
Last but not least, I mustn’t forget to cover the rest of me. After all, what good is a pale, wrinkle-free face if my body suffers a beating at the hands of the sun? On that note, I am currently loving the Clarins Sunscreen Care Milk-Lotion Spray SPF 50+. Lightweight and easy to apply, this spray-on sunscreen provides UVA and UVB protection with a factor of 50. As with the facial sunscreen, this Milk-Lotion Spray also contains the Phyto-Sunactyl 2 complex, to ensure that my body stays burn and spot free.
Gone are the days of my youth where I would intentionally fry myself for the sake of some color. Here are the days where I slather on the SPF.
How do you practice safe sun?
