When it comes to the summer, nothing captures the spirit season more (in my mind, at least) than anything and everything nautical and ocean-inspired. From stripes to anchors, seaweed to coconut, reds to blues, I am currently craving elements of the nautical theme in a major way. After doing some rather intense research, which may or may not have involved a twitter shout-out, here are my picks for what’s hot on the high seas when the temperatures rise.
Deborah Lippmann Collection polishes always bring IT when it comes to the season colors. Her newest additions are pretty awesome, if you ask me.
Yellow Brick Road is a bright, sheer shade of yellow. I like to think of it as sunshine in a bottle, but it also goes with my white and blue shades so nicely.
I Know What Boys like is a rich periwinkle crème. Not quite nautical navy, but close enough for these nails.
Like a Virgin is a sheer stark white. Applied to the nautical theme, no further explanation is required.
MAC Russian Red Lipstick
An old favorite, Russian Red lipstick seems to have been around for as long as the MAC brand has. Fortunately, Russian Red is also that perfect true red shade, perfectly matte, and sure to bring all the sailors to the yard.
LUSH Big Blue Bath Bomb
Rub a dub, dub. LUSH comes to the tub. Just a ball of Big Blue, and the ocean comes to you. This Big Blue Bath Bomb contains lemon, lavender, coarse sea salt, and arame seaweed, for extra oomph.
Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion
With seaweed in the name, it’s no wonder this made it on my list of nautical picks. A recent discovery of mine, the Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion is a toner designed to disinfect and cleanse dry, sensitive skin. In this case, the seaweed ingredient soothes irritated skin.
These are my picks for a nautical-tastic, beautified summer. Can you think of any others?
