Krasey Fitness- Week 8 Update

Two Months in, and Two Months Stronger!

As per usual, here’s what I learned/realized this week:

Working out in the morning is kind of a big deal.

So this past Tuesday, a series of events popped up on my calendar that would have made my usual workout schedule rather difficult. Determined to still get my sweat on, I opted for an early a.m session. Wow, does working out in the morning make a difference. To say I was energized the remainder of my day would be a vast understatement. I almost wish I could do it every day. What times do you all work out?

It’s all about the heart rate

Polar FT60

While going on one of my routine marathon elliptical jaunts (11 miles, roar!), one of the trainers that I previously hadn’t spoken to approached me, and a chat ensued. Being of the inquisitive type, I started asking him about cardio workouts, and how to get the most out of them. The first words out of his mouth were get a heart rate monitor(hrm), and so I did.  Much more accurate than the monitors that come standard on the gym equipment, an hrm can apparently take my calorie burn into the stratosphere, by ensuring that I am working out at optimal levels (more on that later). After lots of research, and this great review by the Fit Bee, I went with the Polar FT60, which will track heart rate, distance, and calories burned. Can’t wait to try it out!

On Personal Training Sessions

So this past Wednesday, one of the wonderful personal trainers in the gym (James is his name) kindly offered me up a 30 minute personal training session, just to get a feel for what it is like. Let me just say, while I do mix it up and get lots of strength training in, there is nothing like having someone watch over you while they proceed to push you to push your own limits. I believe the personal trainer hype now, if I can only pony up the cash to be able to afford the pricey sessions!

Confidence is a beautiful thing.

Prior to beginning this fitness journey of mine, I had purchased a tankini swimsuit because I was far too self conscious about my midsection to rock a proper bikini. Not to mention a somewhat recent increase in my bust size resulted in me not fitting into any of the bikinis I had, anyway. Well folks, after 2 months of sweat, aches, and lots of hard work, I’ve gained the confidence to purchase (and eventually wear) a bikini again! My choice was Freya’s Pier, a hot pink polka dotted bikini that looks and feels great on. I have some ways to go until I am in my perfect bikini body, but that won’t stop me from wearing this adorable suit as soon as now. I’m thinking it will look great with retro hair and red lipstick. Thoughts?

So, what did I do this weekend? Relaxed, mostly. Friday I enjoyed a delicious seafood dinner with the boyfriend, and our best friends.

Saturday I went outlet shopping, while Sunday was dedicated to catching up on KB, and a Costco run.

    Those suits are adorable! Personally, I’m not a personal trainer fan. They’re great once in a while – when you need to check yourself, but I don’t like them every week. I get enough push from myself. Of course I’m also doing videos at home, rather than working out in a gym (i’m not a gym fan). LOL

    Just a thought – have you been logging your food? I am having issues figuring out how much to intake, especially now that I’ve switched workouts (again). But sometimes we get into an issue of not eating enough. I don’t want that to happen with you. *hugs*

    I do all my workouts at home too…There are some great ones out there. I like to weight train and walking is my cardio….I do the eating clean…Cutting sugars as much as possible. It is so easy to do and that is where a majority of my weight dropped. You eat 5 times a day but you eat healthy foods. Nothing processed. You should check it out. Oxygen magazine has all the info. Big fan…

    Ohh, I’ve become a hardcore gym rat, but I definitely used to be into the videos, too.

    I haven’t been logging my food, but I do eat very healthfully. Thank you so much for all of your support! *hugs*
