Staycation, All I’ve Ever Wanted

Dear readers, do you all remember that talk of fabulous vacations and jet setting beauty essentials that we had a while back? Well, it is time to put a different spin on things. Since my financial situation at the moment is slightly less than sunny (I am saving up for an apt, dontcha know?!), I figured that I am going to have to temporarily (very temporarily, I hope!) make do. So with that I say, that If I can do it, so can you! While a staycation isn’t necessarily all I have ever wanted, my staycation is all I’ve ever needed with these products right here.

When it comes to the art of the staycation, ambiance is everything, and a little candle goes a very long way. Currently striking my fancy is the decadent, the luscious, the ultra-delicious Havana Spiced Rum candle from TOCCA. With subtle hints of warm, spiced rum, and sweet notes of mouth-watering sugarcane, this is a scent that is both soothing and relaxing. Tahiti NYC is not, but the warmth of the scent instantly makes me feel like I am in a brighter, warmer, and altogether sunnier place.

Spicing up my bath routine while taking me to my happy place (read: somewhere tropical) is Molton Brown’s Coco de Mer bath and body line. An aromatic infusion that blends sweet honey with luscious coconut, this is a scent that makes my scent receptors tingle and my mouth water. It is almost like a trip to the beach, without that pesky sand getting in places it doesn’t belong thing.

DG Skincare Alpha Beta Glow Pads

When it comes to catching some rays (are the kids still calling it that, these days?), I always opt to go the fake route. Even in the presence of sunshine, my Caspar-like complexion always turns more lobster than gilded. That in mind, I’d like to take that discussion we were having a couple of months ago regarding the Dr Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Peel Pads, and kick it up a couple of bronzed notches for the summer. DG Skincare’s Alpha Beta Glow Pads tout all of those delightful Alpha & Beta Hydroxy Acids that exfoliate the skin and shrink the pores, with the added bonus of Active Vitamin D, Microencapsulated DHA, and Soy Proteins to build a very believable faux tan. Part exfoliator, part anti-aging product, and part faux tanner, it’s no wonder the Alpha Beta Glow Pads have become my staycation (or any ‘cation at all) staple.

Maya Water Facial Mists

Sometimes all it takes to rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul is a little bit of water. I’m not talking about the kind you drink, but rather the kind that you delicately spritz on your face, when your complexion is feeling slightly parched. I am talking about Maya Water Facial Mist. Sourced from Norway (a lot of skincare products are coming from there lately, aren’t they?), these vitamin and mineral rich essences are the ticket to instant skin rejuvenation. It is kind of like the spray of the ocean on your face as your leisurely lounge on the beach pre-dawn, without all of that salt.

Re-Bloom Sleep Drinks

Rebloom Natural Sleep Drink

When all else fails, always know that a lot of sleep can go a long way in faking the rested effects of a vacation. Touting all natural ingredients such as valerian, chamomile, and lavender, the Rebloom Sleep Drink soothes, calms, and ultimately helps me get to my sleepy place quickly. Unlike a sleeping pill, there are no chemicals, no crazy neurotransmitters, and no next-morning grog factor.

I may not have the funds for an extended holiday, but I am not complaining (too loudly, at least ;)). Thanks to these luscious beauty treats, I am faking my vacay in a wonderful kind of way.

I LOVE Stay-cations! And definitely approve of you seeming to prioritize sleep! You also look stunning in the picture at the top of the page (thought I should say). I haven’t tried Molton Brown yet, but you have me curious. 🙂
