At Monique Lhullier, it was all about contrast, a beauty look that was at once both soft and dangerous.
The nail team, led by Wanda Ruiz for CND, created a shady lady manicure for Monique Lhullier. To get the look, nails were painted first with a base of silver chrome, layered with Desert Suede for a ‘dirty nude’ effect. The tips were ‘iced’, with a line of Dark Amethyst, a new shade for Fall 2011.
The makeup team, led by Val Garland for MAC Cosmetics, created a look that was all smoke and mirrors. To get the desired effect, skin was first prepped with Match Master Foundation, Pro Sculpting Cream in Accentuate, and Sand Brown on the cheeks. On the eyes, Black Black Chromagraphic Pencil was swept across lid and blended into a dark purple from a creme shadow palette. Shadowy Lady shadow was pressed under the bottom lash line, and Fascinating Eye Khol was placed on the waterline. Brows were defined and filled in, and lips were finished with Cream from a lipstick quad, and Emancipation Lipglass.
The hair team, led by Odile Gilbert for Kerastase, created a look inspired by the modern day Audrey Hepburn, sophisticated, yet still young. To get the look, hair was swept into a high bun, and then curled and pinned. The finishing touch was a black velvet bow, placed at the crown of the sleek updos.
Since Monique Lhullier’s gowns are a bit of an obsession of mine, here is a quick shot of one of the stunning gowns.
How do you feel about this deliciously dark, sophisticated look? Would you rock it?
