The Science of Skincare: Freya Skincare

Ladies and gents, I would like to interrupt our regularly scheduled makeup posts for another scientific skincare lesson. Don’t lie to yourself now, I know you missed these.

This time, we are hop, skip, and jumping across the North Atlantic to visit our friends over in Scandinavia. Now I know that you are thinking arctic temperatures and beautiful people, but Scandinavia is so much more. It is the home to a plethora of untapped skincare resources in the form of arctic marine and plant life. Tapping aforementioned resources, Freya is a Scandinavian skincare brand that is making quite a splash with both its science, and its results.

The science:

Lexa Complex

One of the main components to this line is derived from salmon roe, but there is nothing fishy about the results. Salmon eggs naturally contain large amounts of powerful nutrients, but the true benefits come from the Fibroblast Growth Factor and Insulin-like Growth Factor, both of which support rapid cellular growth. Rapid cellular growth means rapid cell turnover and replenishment, which ultimately results in skin that remains both taut, and firm. Collagen is important, folks, and the nutrients found in the Lexa Complex ensure that our body’s natural collagen generators keep production going.

Nano Omega 3

It turns out that Omega 3 Fatty Acids- that are plentiful in cold-water fish like salmon are just as good for you on the outside as they are on the inside. The well-known internal benefits are cardiovascular protection and anti-inflammation, but it also turns out that they are crucial to skin hydration. F.Y.I, Freya is the first skincare brand to harness Omega 3’s. Oh, and in case you were wondering, the line does not smell in the least bit fishy.

Artic Antioxidants

Norwegian Bilberry, Cloudberry and Lingonberry are the three antioxidant-rich berries that call this line home. Antioxidants are important because they help to fight the free radicals that cause premature aging, neutralize redness and swelling, and promote healthy cell turnover.

The product lineup:

Freya Skincare is currently available online. Harnessing the power of arctic air and ocean, this Scandinavian skincare line brings the beautiful, no plane ride required.
